The Gunnison Gorge is located on the Western Slope of Colorado and there are nearly 14 miles of Gold Medal waters to fish. For the majority of that length, the only access is by boat or foot. We backpack and day hike this area as often as possible. The Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado gave me a birthday present in 2015. They unexpectedly reduced the flow of the river on that day after a long runoff. The result was one of those magical days when all of the fish are evenly dispersed and feeding on the surface.
